Rugged Motorola Defy smartphone – Android meets the great outdoors

Fans of Android powered smartphones and the great outdoors now have a new option – the Motorola Defy. The Defy is the first rugged Android phone on the market, and will launch on T-Mobile “in time for the holidays.”

The phone features a Corning Gorilla Glass display, which makes it far stronger than your average mobile phone display. Its rugged exterior make it water and dustproof, and dual microphones with the Motorola CrystalTalk system mean you’ll be able to make phone calls in the loudest of environments. Inside the phone is an FM radio and a 5 megapixel auto-focus camera with LED flash and geotagging.

Besides these Motorola innovations, you obviously still get the power of Android, including Google Maps with navigation for turn by turn directions, an electronic compass and a whole host of multimedia options. Pricing has not yet been announced, but I’d guess you are looking at around $200 on a 2 year agreement.

We promise to get you a review of this phone as soon as we can!
