Photo of the day (11.5.10)

An arc of the London Eye, framed by tree leaves, is the subject of this image by Flickr user bnilsen. The London Eye, which sees an average of 3.75 million visitors a year, has become in relatively short order one of the most important single tourist attractions in the UK. The moody blue-gray clouds in the background speak realistically to London’s infamous cloudiness, though what I really love about this image is the way that it reconfigures an iconic tourist attraction.

Got an image of an enormously popular tourist attraction taking up space somewhere? Add it to the Flickr Gadling pool and we might just feature it as a Photo of the Day.
