LodgeNet announces 2010 top in-room hotel movies – no porn included

Despite more people than ever traveling with digital media devices, streaming media services and in-room TV’s with connectivity, LodgeNet just reported its best year ever. If you have ever spent the night in a hotel, you’ll no doubt have seen the LodgeNet name on the remote control.

The company provides entertainment to thousands of hotels in the United States, offering everything from pay-per-view adult movies to recently released blockbusters.

The top ten in-room movies for 2010 rented from LodgeNet are:

  1. The Blind Side (Warner Bros. Pictures)
  2. Couples Retreat (NBC Universal)
  3. Date Night (20th Century Fox)
  4. Robin Hood (NBC Universal)
  5. 2012 (Sony Pictures)
  6. It’s Complicated (NBC Universal)
  7. The Twilight Saga: New Moon (Summit Entertainment)
  8. Sherlock Holmes (Warner Bros. Pictures)
  9. Avatar (20th Century Fox)
  10. Salt (Sony Pictures)

As you can see, the list doesn’t include any adult movies. The adult movie segment might be the one area where personal technology has taken over.

In 2010, 359 movie titles were shown on LodgeNet systems – the company’s highest ever one-year total – with 35 of those titles generating $1 million or more each in sales revenue. This included releases from all of the major Hollywood studios as well as independent studios and distributors.

Last year, the top movie was “The Hangover”, followed by “Taken”.
