Make Fortune Cookies

One night when I called one of my close friends she rushed me off the phone because she was in the middle of cooking. When I asked what was on the menu and whether or not see needed any taste-testers she quickly told me she was ruining the fortune cookies and had to go. Fortune cookies? Huh? Who on the planet makes fortune cookies? I thought a machine did that… How do you make fortune cookies? You can make them at home? After talking with her I wanted to look up a fortune cookie recipe to see what step she could have been at to be ruining the folded cookie like treats. After checking it out I’m not sure which it was and I’m sure glad she didn’t needed a taste-tester.

I won’t try this one, but FoodNetwork.com has one from their Sweet Dreams episode if anyone is interested. In summary the prep time is what gets you in making the cookies. They take an hour of prep, 24 minutes to cook and yield about 20 cookies. This could be a fun way to travel to Asia by way of food with friends or family on an evening stuck in the house.

Fruit Salad

It is summer time, which means lots of our favorite fruits are in season, which means that it’s also time for, as the Wiggles might sing: Fruit Salad, Yummy Yummy. And so here is a post from our good friends over at Slashfood about, yes, how to make the finest fruit salad this side of Australia (where the Wiggles are from….oh, and if you don’t know who the Wiggles are, you obviously do not have any kids.) The post heralds the health benefits of fruit salad and I really have no reason to post about this right now other than it is like 200 degrees outside and fruit salad sound kind of good right now.

Free Coffee

When it comes to getting by every day I have but one word for you: coffee. Yes, it is the elixir of life, ambrosia to the spirit. And now, today, you can get free coffee from Starbucks . Not a bad marketing idea. Get those kids in now and get them fixed. Of course, there’s a catch :”Valid for one drink per customer. While supplies last.” Go get out now, beat the heat, and get wired.

Sala Rumm

Been a while since I visited Wallpaper* online and nothing’s really changed. Like every issue they point us lesser-inclined design persons to chic, sleek, modern and trendy interiors located around the globe. This one seen here is called Sala Rumm out of Lanzarote and was the design creation of Madrid’s Tomás Alia. Get your fix of exotic tea while lounging in this hip looking bar. Quite frankly, that’s a whole lot of magenta for one room, but once the crowd moves in I’m sure it’s a lot softer on the eyes.

See Wallpaper for additional details.
