Daily deal – 8GB SDHC memory card for $12.49

by Scott Carmichael on

Good morning readers! If you are reading this, you clearly made it through New Years Eve without too much damage. I’ll post quietly just in case your head isn’t quite with us yet. First of all, a very happy New Year to you all!

My daily deal for today is for an 8GB SD memory card from Newegg. 8GB is enough for about 3000 photos on most cameras, and the card is suitable for high speed transfers, which is perfect if your camera can shoot HD video.

The card is on sale for just $12.49, and ships for free. Memory cards are the one thing that did not go up (and down again) in price in 2008, and the price of these 8GB cards has plummeted in the past 12 months. My guess is that this spot next year will be advertising cheap 32GB cards.

Before you click “purchase”, please be sure to check whether your camera (or other device) is compatible with the new SDHC format. Virtually all cameras made in 2008 will be fine, but it pays to be sure, as not everything will be capable of working with this card.

Daily deal – Kodak Easyshare C813 8MP digital camera for $69.99

by Scott Carmichael on

Did Santa bring what you asked for this year? If not, and you ended up with a reindeer sweater and a gift card to a bankrupt store, then this deal from Bestbuy might be just what the doctor ordered.

The Kodak Easyshare C813 digital camera has a 3X optical zoom, and takes photos in 8 Megapixels. The camera runs off ordinary AA batteries.

As is often the case nowadays, the great price is only available when you buy the camera in pink. Apparently manufacturers make a lot of pink cameras, but fail to realize that not everyone wants to be seen walking down the street with such a bright color.

Included in the box is the camera itself, a USB cable, AA batteries, a wrist strap and a camera insert for Kodak photo printers/docks. There is no memory card in the box, but the camera does come with 10MB of internal memory, enough for about 3 photos, so be sure to purchase a memory card!

To make the deal even hotter, Bestbuy will throw in a free 2GB USB flash drive and the camera is eligable for their $20 bag/card promotion, where you can buy a camera bag and a 4GB SD card for just $20.

The camera is available online and can be ordered for instore pickup at your local Bestbuy.

Daily deal – 8GB Slacker Wi-Fi Internet radio player for $70

by Scott Carmichael on

My daily deal for today is for the 8GB Slacker G1 Wi-Fi Internet Radio Player (isn’t that a mouthful!). This Wi-Fi enabled MP3/Internet Radio player connects to the Slacker music service, and refreshes your player with a new batch of music any time you want. We’ve taken a closer look at the newest generation Slacker player, and were so impressed that it became one of our top 25 travel products of the year.

This first generation player has all the same features of the Slacker G2 we reviewed, but comes in a slightly larger unit. You’ll still get access to Slacker.com, and you can still load your own music on the device.

The player is on sale at Woot.com, which means it could be out of stock at any moment, so if you are interested in a Wi-Fi enabled 8GB music player, don’t wait too long! Shipping is just $5.

Daily deal – Kensington Contour Traveler rolling laptop bag for $29.99

by Scott Carmichael on

My daily deal for today is for the Kensington Contour rolling laptop bag. This laptop bag has a single extending handle and a contoured back pad for carrying the bag using the shoulder strap.

The bag is large enough for most 15.4″ laptop computers, is water resistant and has pockets for your mobile phone, mp3 player and most other loose items. The bag itself is fairly lightweight at just 6.4lbs.

The Contour Traveler bag usually retails for about $100, but J&R currently has it on sale for just $29.99 (plus an additional $10 for shipping).

I’ve had one of these Contour bags before, and it was quite impressive. I was especially happy with the design that moves the wheels to the outermost corner, increasing the space inside the bag.

Daily deal – Swiss Gear Montreaux backpack for $8.54

by Scott Carmichael on

My daily deal for today is for the Swiss Gear Montreaux technical daypack.

This high quality bag has 2 side pockets, one large main compartment and an iPod/mp3 player pocket with a headphone pass-through jack.

The bag is available in several colors, but to get the low price of $8.54, you’ll have to select pink, red, black or gray, if you select any of the other colors, the price will shoot up to just under $19. The normal retail price of the bag is over $30!

As always, you’ll need to order more than $25 from Amazon to be eligible for their free shipping, or you can use your Amazon Prime account if you have one.

There are no reviews of this bag, but to be honest, at eight and a half bucks, there is very little that can go wrong, so I’ve ordered one for myself (just not in pink).
