Daily deal – Apple 80GB iPod Classic for $189

by Scott Carmichael on

Did you get what you wanted for Christmas this year? If you opened all your gifts and only ended up with a new sweater and a gift card to a bankrupt store, then now is the time to treat yourself to something shiny and new.

Newegg.com currently has the Apple 80GB iPod classic on sale for just $189.

This low price is quite unheard of in the world of the iPod, and usually only happens with refurbished or “last year” models of the popular player. To make things even better, Newegg will also ship it to you for free.

There are other players out there, but the iPod is still the undisputed winner, and at this price you really won’t find anything better. Included in the box is of course the iPod itself, as well as a USB cable, a docking adapter and a pair of headphones.

Daily deal – Canon 7 Megapixel digital camera for $89.99

by Scott Carmichael on

You’d better not still be in the middle of your Christmas shopping! If you are, then I suggest getting dressed and braving the crowds of fellow procrastinators. My daily deal for today is for the Canon PowerShot A470 digital camera.

This 7.1 Megapixel camera features a 3.4x optical zoom, and runs off regular AA batteries. The A470 is a pretty basic camera, and you won’t find any of the more upscale bells and whistles on it. But it is still a Canon, and Canon is one of those brands you can’t really go wrong with. Despite the low price, Canon still managed to add face and smile detection, as well as video recording.

The A470 normally retails for about $120, but Newegg.com has it on sale for just 89.99. Included in the package is the camera, 2 AA batteries, USB and video cables as well as a wrist strap. You also get a CD with some Canon software.

If you are looking for a basic camera, or something you can hand to the kids without fear of them damaging an expensive camera, then the A470 is a great choice. At this price, you can’t really find many other A-name brands without going for a refurbished device, or something from a pawn shop.

Daily deal – Sony Nav-U Portable GPS for $79.99 (with in-store pickup)

by Scott Carmichael on

Unless you are willing to pay for overnight shipping, your only option for getting last minute gifts is going to be good old fashioned brick and mortar shopping.

There are thankfully easy ways to bypass the crowds, and one of them is to order online for in-store pickup. That applies to my daily deal for today. The Sony Nav-U GPS unit is currently on sale at Sears.com for just $79.99, and is in stock in most of their stores.

The unit features all the usual GPS bells and whistles, as well as a photo viewer and text-to-speech street name prompts.

One word of warning; the low price will not show up until the final step of the checkout process, so don’t be alarmed when you see the site claim the unit costs $149.99.

Daily deal – Pinnacle PCTV HD TV stick for Mac and Windows

by Scott Carmichael on

My daily deal for today is perfect for anyone who has ever been stuck at the airport, or found themselves getting close to death by boredom in a hotel room.

This Pinnacle HDTV USB key plugs directly into your laptop (or desktop) computer, and instantly provides access to (HD)TV programming on your computer.

The device comes with a small magnetic HD antenna, an antenna adapter, a remote control and a travel bag. Once the software is installed, you’ll be able to tune into any local “over the air” programming. More advanced users can even connect the PCTV stick to their digital cable connection.

The included software allows your PC to function like a DVR, which means you can record TV and watch it when it suits you best (like on your next flight).

This product usually retails for about $110, but Woot.com currently has it on sale for just $69.99 with free overnight shipping!

Keep in mind though, Woot deals only last one day, and when they are sold out, they don’t come back, so if you are interested in this product for yourself, or as a gift, order soon!

Daily deal – 5 piece Springfield luggage set at Macy’s for $49.99

by Scott Carmichael on

We are now a little too close to Christmas to rely on online orders and shipping, so my daily deal for today is available online and instore.

This “Springfield” luggage set is available at Macys.com and most Macy’s retail stores. The set usually retails for $200, but is currently on sale for just $49.99.

Included in the 5 piece set are 3 rolling suitcases, a beauty case/tote and a travel accessories bag.

The set is available in red and blue. The rolling bags feature a full steel frame construction, and all bags are made of high density polyester.

As always with luggage like this, I would not recommend it for the frequent flier, but if you only take the occasional trip, it should work out just fine.

You’ll find the luggage set here, which is where you’ll also find the instore inventory locator.
