Video of the Day: Paper Osaka

People spend a lot of time complaining about airlines, and often that criticism is rightly deserved. It’s rare that you hear airlines getting praised for any sort of creativity. However, we have to tip our caps to Air Asia for their nifty little video announcing their newest destination, Osaka. It’s a clever animation that highlights some of Osaka’s quirks and isn’t just a boring commercial for a product or service.

We’ll still spend a lot of time nitpicking airlines and calling them our when they fail to meet expectations. But, for now, we’re just going to enjoy watching that paper girl journey to one of our favorite cities on the planet.

Photo of the day – I break for tanks

Road signs are designed to be universal so that anywhere in the world drivers can be aware of local driving rules and potential hazards. Yet this sign in South Korea isn’t something you’ll see on most roads, setting the speed limit for trucks as well as tanks at 20 kilometers per hour. Flickr user BaboMike guesses it’s a remnant from the war, as tank traffic isn’t so common these days.

Seen any unusual signs on the road? Add your photos to the Gadling Flickr pool and we may use it for a future Photo of the Day.

Video of the Day – A ride through Lisbon

Can you describe your favorite city in one word? Yellow Bus Tours, a tour guide company in Portugal, recently asked tourists of Lisbon to describe the Portuguese capital in one word.

Set to a montage of beautiful scenes shot in and around the city, the video sets a vibe that certainly makes the city look inviting. Kudos to Yellow Bus Tours for capturing the feel of the city & inviting their guests to help promote Lisbon tourism.

Photo of the day – Picnic in Taiwan

In the mood for a picnic in Taiwan? Flickr user Pamcy.com sure is. She snapped this image of a small picnic in the north of Taiwan late last month. The views are striking even with the lingering haze across the horizon. The grass looks comfortable, too. Is it time for a nap?

Got an image of a fun summer activity you’re dying to share with a wider audience? Go ahead and upload it to the Gadling Group pool on Flickr. If we dig it we might choose it as a future Photo of the Day.

Photo of the Day- Heron Fishing

Today’s Photo of the Day comes from Flickr user James Wheeler who tells us “One of the great things about Vancouver is the wildlife along the shoreline near Kitsilano.”

Got an image you’d like to show off to the world? Submit it to the Gadling Group Pool on Flickr. It might just get chosen as a future Photo of the Day.

Not sure what ISO, aperture, metering and all that photography lingo means? Gadling’s Dana Murph does and breaks it down for us in a series of Travel Photo Tips.
