Photo of the day: German toilets

Sometimes, truth be told, it’s the facilities that matter most. The German toilets sign captured here by Flickr user Taylor McConnell in Bingen am Rhein has surely come as a symbol of utter and complete relief to any number of passers-by, perhaps especially to those who might have gone a bit crazy with their lemonade or beer quaffing earlier.

We like signs and we like featuring images of signs as Photos of the Day. Do you have an image of a great sign somewhere? Yes? We thought so. Upload it to the Gadling Group pool on Flickr. If we dig it, we might just select it to be a future Photo of the Day.

Photo of the day: behold the power of Cadbury chocolate

Depending on which side of the pond you hail from, you probably have a strong opinion on which Cadbury chocolate is superior. Americans live for the season when the Cadbury Creme Egg (now actually made by Hershey) is available to provide way more sugar in one sitting than is advisable, while Brits find the Yankee versions of their confectionary too sweet and consider the simple Dairy Milk bar to be perfection. Flickr user andreakw has introduced a third contender: Cadbury Australia, which offers a fairly dazzling array of flavors, from white chocolate (I personally find it an affront to chocolate, but others love it) to Turkish delight. Any Aussies want to compare their Cadbury to the American or British varieties?

Upload your chocolate or other sweet travel pix to the Gadling Flickr pool and we may use one for a future Photo of the Day.

Photo of the Day: A challenge answered

Today’s Photo of the Day comes from Flickr user Chris Maki who tells us:

“I got an email from a buddy of mine today who mentioned that he’s still following my stream, but he’s not as blown away as he was back in April/May. I took this as a bit of a challenge to go out and shoot something good. Personally I’m actually pretty happy with this one, I think it looks pretty cool. I caught the sole strobe in the frame, but I don’t think it matters nor does it detract from the scene at all.”

We took a look at your stream too and think it looks pretty cool too!

Photo of the day – Plaza de Toros

Millions of Americans are suffering through an almost intolerable heat wave. So why not add fuel to the fire this Friday with an image that speaks to a dry and unyielding summer heat?

In addition to suggesting extreme warmth, this image of the Plaza de Toros (properly the Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla) in Seville, Spain by Flickr user magnusvk is gorgeous. The image is simple and beautifully composed. Bullfighting fans will already know that the Plaza de Toros is the oldest bullring in all of Spain.

Got an image you’d like to share with a wide audience? Upload said image to the Flickr Gadling Group pool. If we like your photo we might choose it as a future Photo of the Day.

Photo of the day – Panama on skateboard

Skateboarders get a bad rap: they travel in packs of (usually) teenage boys, gravitate towards public buildings and spaces, and redefine the word “loiter.” But this shot by Flickr user aaroncolorado taken in Panama City, Panama is graceful, almost balletic. No doubt the no-goodniks were promptly chased away from their hangout spot, but looks like they had a good afternoon skating.

Have some great action shots to share? Add them to our Flickr pool and we may feature it on a future Photo of the Day.
