Video of the Day: Is this a real car accident?

We love road trips here at Gadling. Avoiding the stress of air travel, stopping at random landmarks and bonding with friends make road tripping a fantastic vacation option. Driving, however, can be dangerous. You have to look out for potholes, aggressive drivers and random pieces of wood that come shooting at your windshield. We have no idea if this video is real (why was someone just randomly filming the ride and not talking?) but is sure gave us a scare. Car accident videos – real or fake – remind us to drive safely, buckle up and always keep our eyes on the road.

Photo of the Day- China sunset

Debra Corbeil and Dave Bouskill are known as Canada’s Adventure Couple and have immersed themselves into the culture of 45 nations during their travels for 13 years as they they have climbed, paddled, hiked and biked their way through 5 continents. Today’s photo Dave took in China. In his words:

Known as China’s Romance Capital, West Lake in Hangzhou is the setting for the famous folk tale, The Legend of the White Snake. It is a tragic love story that has been passed down through the generations. Living on through folklore and fantasy, people flock to West Lake every weekend to celebrate their love. One can understand why this lake has inspired such a story. It’s beauty is captivating and at sunset even more so.

Photo of the day — spring in England

Today’s Photo of the Day captures early spring in England. In late spring and summer, this canal will burst with color. For now, spring appears fragile and embryonic. Winter hasn’t yet been overwhelmed by verdant green, and the chief source of color is provided by the red boat gliding across the canal.

Flickr user Kumukulanui shot this image on England’s Worcester-Birmingham Canal last week, just a few days after the official start of springtime.

Photo of the day – Sunset in Manhattan

Sunsets are a common staple of the travel photo album. We tend to associate them with palm-tree-lined beaches, desert landscapes, and misty mountains. Yet this photo by Flickr user jameskadamson has nary a cactus or foothill in sight. Taken in New York City, it’s a beautiful perspective on the building’s architecture and the photographer’s favorite time of day. Want more sunsets? Check out yesterday’s video of the day for 365 sunsets around the world.

Photo of the day: Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Lake Linden

Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is a favorite place of mine. Desolate and beautiful, the U.P. is an ideal getaway destination. The coastline of Michigan’s U.P. has a certain kind of shine–they kind that makes me want to build a cabin and never leave… except during the winters.

Featured above are 3 kayaking friends using a sail rig on their kayak. Launching off from a clean sandy beach, this shot was taken in Lake Linden. Lake Linden is located about 2 hours northwest of Marquette, Michigan. Green Bay is the nearest city to Lake Linden and it’s still 5 hours south. And what do you do when you find yourself hanging out in a place as remote as this? Take to the water and bask in the sunshine.
