Here’s an interesting piece on Islas
Secas in Panama from a new site called Travel Lady Magazine. Islas Secas is a privately owned archipelago of 16 small
islands in the Gulf of Chiriqui off Panama’s Pacific Coast. The photo of the snorkeler galavanting (wait, does one
galavant in the water?) with a (albeit small) whale shark is sweet. The piece gives some advice on how to get there and
what to do, as well as how to mix up a batch of Jenny’s Islas Secas Cold Cream of Carrot Soup.
Underwater Photo Expeditions
Looking to beef up your shooting expertise while diving?
Check out this opportunity to go on an underwater photo expedition.
Mauricdio Handler, who has shot for National Geographic and lots of other publications offers clinics to help would-be
dive photographers learn the craft of underwater shooting. Look at
this expedition later in the year to
shoot Great Whites in Mexico. Man, imagine how cool that would be.
Photo of the Day: (2/18/05)
Today’s photo of the day comes from Froggies Divers in Indonesia. There are numerous great photos here, but
this extreme close up of a White Snake Eel was
particularly cool.
For Slug Lovers Only
Do you love Opisthobranch Molluscs, that is, sea slugs? Then
this site is for you. Steve Long, a long-time lover of sea slugs has
put up a site dedicated to these slimy denizens of the deep. From great photographs to bona-fide research including a
primer on the color evolution in Nudibranchs, this is a pretty interesting place to browse for divers who shoot photos
and slug lovers alike. But even if you are not a fan of the slug, you’ll be amazed by the colors.
Check it out, and don’t miss the Opisthobranch of the Week,
that has a photo and feature on one wonderful slug that gets it’s moment in the dive light.
Scuba Sites Site
It’s not the best designed site in the world, but there’s a lot of good information on some of the world’s best
scuba locations at this Web site called Scuba Sites. The reviews are
comprehensive and decently written. They cover all the continents and have got an assortment of photos and low-quality
videos, including one of a passing
Tiger Shark that has a creepy allure to it.
