What are you doing early November? Had you thought for a moment about taking a
windsurfing clinic with some of the best
windsurfers around? Women On Water (WOW) has put together an all inclusive trip to Baja to help folks
improve their windsurfing skills and at the same time kick back at a luxurious B&B on the beach. Oh, with a hot tub
to boot. Dunno about you, but that sounds like a pretty sweet way to get yourself primed for Thanksgiving. Of course,
if baja is simply too far to go, there is always the Columbia
Gorge and koin the pray for wind party. So why not
head West and grab yourself a beer while you’re there.
Kite Surfer Killed
A kite surfer from
New York was killed in New Zealand over the weekend. Ugh. The accident sounds really harsh. Mother Nature had it in for
this poor guy.
Douglas Wiser, from Geneva, N.Y., was killed Saturday after a strong wind gust hit his kite, dragging him 100
yards from the sea and slamming him into a recreational vehicle. Witnesses said Wiser was about to release his kite
harness when the wind suddenly dragged him across a beach and smashed him through the limbs of a tree at Te Awanga, a
small settlement on North Island’s east coast.
Man, what a bummer.
Sand’s Up!
You gotta admit this is pretty damn cool. Dune surfing in Namibia. It is done in other places as well, but there is a fine allure to doing this in Africa. The sport, if that’s what we’re already calling it, is done standing up, or lying on your belly on a kind of boogie board, and one speeds down the sandy slope at speeds of up to 50 mph. This is something I’ve gotta try!
