Hanoi Hustle Ha Ha

Kai, Alan, and Nate are Huge In Asia. Literally, their website is called Huge In Asia. Down on their luck, loveless, mono-linguistic, vaccine-free, and broke, the trio of Americans hatched a plan: move to Asia and become celebrities. Simple!

To document their celebrity-transformation, they created a website that chronicles their efforts (“A travel vlog about life, liberty, and the pursuit of international fame“) while highlighting different cultures and people they encounter. To get a look at their take on life in Hanoi, check out their hilarious version of Hanoi Hustle:

Music parodies don’t appeal to you? Then be sure to check out the excellent video called “What Am I Eating?”

Guys, in my book, you’re already celebrities.

Sanyo’s New Waterproof Xacti E1 Camcorder: Xactly What You Need For Your Summer Getaway?

Capable of capturing digital video and beautiful 6MP photos on land AND underwater, Sanyo’s new Xacti E1 is small on looks but big on versatility.

Featuring a 5x optical zoom and a 2.5-Inch LCD display, the handheld device is capable of recording full motion video 5 feet underwater for up to 30 minutes.

Five feet isn’t going to appeal to any divers… but it may appeal to snorkelers, kayakers, skiers, hikers, bikers, beach-goers, amateur pr0n-makers — or anyone who gets caught in the rain but still wants to photo-document their adventures.

The unit will be available starting June 15, for around $499. I’d like to see some of the images the camera produces before endorsing it, but it seems cool.

Funny Cars: Transportation for your Next Trip?

Watching people run after cheese in Justin’s post Cooper’s Hill Cheese-Rolling and Wake reminded me of the power tool drag racing post I wrote a little while back. It’s the zanyiness of these activities that attracts me. This video is of the Funny Car division at the Power Tool Drag races recently held in Phoenix, Arizona. The ambiance is captured through the announcer’s voice, as well as the black and white checkered flags. You’ll notice that mufflers aren’t part of the car designs. Some of these contraptions remind me of something you’d see in a Monty Python sketch.

Videos of Cooper’s Hill Cheese-Rolling and Wake

The 2007 Cooper’s Hill Cheese-Rolling race recently took place, and SoGlos.com has a good recap on the event. The race is named after Cooper’s Hill near Cheltenham and Gloucester in the Cotswolds region of England, and the object is to chase a wheel of Double Gloucester cheese down the very steep hill. Many are injured — see for yourself. [via]

Really, Really Long Security Line in Heathrow

Here’s a video that will actually make you glad you’re sitting in front of a computer instead of being out on vacation. It’s footage of an unbelievably long security checkpoint queue in Heathrow Airport for passengers changing flights. The cameraman for this particular film spent over three and a half hours waiting in it.

The piece is almost three minutes long, and that wasn’t even enough time to film all of the people in line!
