Free Shakespeare in the Park

Free Shakespeare is always a good thing no matter how you slice it.

And that’s why we here at Gadling would like to point you towards an entire summer of free performances. And, if that’s not good enough for you, consider this: the plays will take place in a park under the warm summer skies of Los Angeles.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream-certainly apropos for the occasion–kicks off the series tonight at 7:30 at Barnsdall Park (4800 Hollywood Blvd). The series will then continue, Thursdays through Sundays, all the way to September 2. Macbeth and Richard II will alternate nights, along with a handful of workshops and readings. And no, unlike Rocky II, you don’t have to see Richard I to understand Richard II.

So, if you find yourself in Los Angeles this summer in search of quality entertainment at rock bottom prices, swing by Barnsdall Park and hang out with the Bard–the women of Los Angeles will love you for it.
