This shot, “Down by the Riverside” by AlphaTangoBravo/ Adam Baker is filled with mini stories in Toulouse, France. The dog is looking to horizons elsewhere, perhaps? Is the girl in the foreground thinking that her book is a pleasurable companion, or does she notice that others are in pairs and want someone to share the pleasure of the day with her?

What mini stories have you captured with your lens? Send them our way at Gadling’s Flickr Photo Pool. It might be chosen as a Photo of the Day.

Take one guess where this photo was shot. Even if you’ve never been there, it’s not too difficult to tell. If you said America, you’re really warm. If you were even more accurate and said BOSTON, you’re right on the money! Maybe the towering blue Hancock building gave it away? Or was it the dark clouds that somehow loom over the city every fall and spring?

Though this photo, which comes to us in high definition from Patrick Powers, doesn’t show it, Beantown is celebrating the end of spring and the beginning of summer. And you know what that means: baseball, the Red Sox, Fenway — and lots of ’em! I was just there last weekend, and while the weather looked like this when I arrived, it was a bright and hot 75 degrees when I left. Ah…. Boston…

Since we have a new blogger coming onto the team soon, my mind has been on Hong Kong a lot (guess where he’s from?). I’ve often referred to the former British colony as “Southeast Asia on training wheels,” where you can experience all of the virtues of the far east yet still enjoy the comforts of the west. Signs in English, easy public transportation, horse racing and plush hotels all contrast with night markets, street food and a strong dollar. What’s not to love?

lecerle snapped this photo at Happy Valley in the north of Hong Kong Island and it makes me miss the country dearly.

Add one more thing to my growing list of things to do before I die: be a contestant on the Cash Cab. What could be more quintessentially New York than an endless row of New York taxi cabs? This photo, brought to us by ultraclay, not only captures the perfectly organized chaos that is New York City street life, but he brings these yellow cabs lined up in a row into vibrant life.

Those of you like myself who are dying to get on the Cash Cab might utilize these strategies when hailing a taxi in the hopes of finding the show’s host, Ben Bailey, sitting behind the wheel:

  • Stick to midtown — more specifically, Columbus Circle: Only rarely does the Cash Cab pick up passengers in uptown or downtown.
  • Look like a tourist: Most Cash Cab contestants are out of towners.
  • Flag a van: 90% of New York cabs are sedans, and the Cash Cab is a van.
  • Rub your rabbit’s foot: Really, flagging the Cash Cab just takes a lot of luck.

This gorgeous building is in the walled-city of Intramuros, a section of Manila, Philippines. The city, built by the Spaniards on the southern bank of the Pasig River in the 16th century is Manila’s oldest district. I love the tone and the way the angle that wetboxer chose in order to show off the intricate details of the architecture. It’s buildings like this one that draws me to travel. Not the only thing, but one thing. Like nature, buildings that offer visual stimulation and intrigue also capture the world’s wonder. But, I’m fond of cities so perhaps that’s why I feel this way.

If you’ve captured some of the world’s wonders with your camera, send your shots our way at Gadling’s Flickr photo pool. One might be chosen as a Photo of the Day.
