Daily gear deal – Samsung portable DVD drive for $50

Today’s daily gear deal is perfect for Netbook owners – by now you’ll have realized that your Netbook does not come with a DVD drive, and that in fact, no Netbook on the market is equipped with one.

That is all fine, until you run into a situation where you really need to get something off a disc, or have to reinstall one of your programs.

This Samsung slim-line DVD recorder is powered using the USB ports on your machine, and can read (and record) on CD’s and DVD’s. It even comes complete with the highly rated NERO disc burning suite.

The retail price is currently $59.99, but when you pop on over to Newegg.com and add promotional code EMCLSMN65 during the checkout process, it’ll take $10 off, bringing this drive down to just $49.99. To make the deal even sweeter, Newegg will ship it for free!

Daily gear deal – Samsung WEP200 Bluetooth headset for $10 (after rebate)

Today’s gear deal is for the highly rated Samsung WEP200 Bluetooth headset.

This headset is absolutely tiny – but has surprisingly good sound quality. In fact, it is currently one of the highest rated headsets on Amazon.

The WEP200 comes complete with a carrying case/charger and a variety of earpieces.

The headset is on sale for $19.99, but after a $10 mail in rebate (scroll down for the rebate PDF file), it drops to just $9.99. The rebate is valid on purchases made until May 31st.

Daily gear deal – T-Mobile prepaid Samsung phone + $25 credit for $30

Our daily deal for this morning is for a T-Mobile prepaid mobile phone with a bonus $25 prepaid card. This Samsung Stripe GSM phone is a step above most basic prepaid phones, as it has Bluetooth and a camera.

The phone is on sale for just $29.99. Now, you are probably wondering why I’m linking to a prepaid phone when most of you probably already have a decent (smart) phone.

Well, at just $30, this makes a brilliant little backup phone, plus it is great for anyone visiting the US who wants a cheap way to make some calls when they visit us.

The other reason is that this phone can be used with any T-Mobile SIM card, which means current subscribers to T-Mobile will be able to pop their SIM card in the phone and use it.

The phone comes with a charger, hands-free headset and SIM card with 10 minutes starter airtime.

Daily deal – Samsung WEP210 Bluetooth headset for $8.60

Looking for a really cheap Bluetooth headset? My daily deal for today is for the Samsung WEP210 headset, for a mere $8.60.

In order to get the low price, you’ll need to get yourself to the Amazon product page, then be sure to check out the “more buying choices” on the right.

In that box, you’ll notice that Amazon themselves are selling it for just $8.60, with free shipping for Prime members, or about $5 for others.

The headset itself has fairly mixed reviews, some people rave about it, others complain about poor volume. Still, for $9 you can’t really go wrong.

The headset comes complete with a travel charger, and you should be able to squeeze about 70 hours of standby usage out of it.

Samsung makes Memoirs with Helena Christensen

As of yesterday, the new Samsung Memoir is available through T-Mobile for $249.

The Samsung Memoir has an 8-megapixel camera, along with Xenon flash, CMOS auto focus and a 16x digital zoom. That’s pretty impressive. Secretly, that’s almost as good as the regular camera I use. It would be really handy if my phone were my regular camera. I long for the day when we kiss the USB cord goodbye — and I’d love not to have two similar-but-different things in my purse.

Anyway, as you can see, Samsung has Helena Christensen on board with the phone. She took a bunch of pictures with it in New York and Barcelona, and you can see them here, and you know what? Turns out this model can take a picture! Well done, Helena!

Hit up T-Mobile if you’re interested in the phone — oh, and it also has a music player, a full Web browser, a GPS navigation system and one of the most advanced touch screen phones in the world. Suck it, iPhone.
