Video Of The Day: Safety Dance, Airplane Style

Air travel can be tedious sometimes. Cramped seats, horrible passengers, security checkpoints… the list goes on. Virgin America has taken a step to lighten the mood once you’re on board. Their new pre-flight safety video launched today on YouTube, and features a bit of singing, a bit of dancing, and far more fun than I’ve encountered when discussing seatbelts and oxygen masks in years past.

Video Of The Day: South America, via Land Rover

Today’s video feature follows three filmmaker friends on a four-month road trip through South America in an old Land Rover. As they document their journey between Argentina, Chile, Bolivia and Southern Brazil, they capture the extreme weather and scenic views and present them in just over five minutes.

Video Of The Day: Rio de Janeiro, Timelapse Style

The “timelapse trend” seems to be going strong. We’ve certainly featured several breathtaking mini-films in the past, from Europe to Disneyland and everywhere in between. And today, we have yet another awe-inspiring timelapse — all the way from Rio de Janeiro. Remember, have HD on and full-screen viewing enabled for the best “sigh-inducing” viewing experience.

Video Of The Day: London To Brighton In 60 Years

In 1953, the BBC filmed a train trip from London to Brighton. They did it again in 1983, thirty years later. And now, they’ve filmed it a third time and spliced all three recordings together, side-by-side. It’s fascinating to see what’s changed in sixty years — and moreso, what hasn’t.

Video Of The Day: Phantom Footage

No, this video wasn’t shot with a traditional helicopter and huge video cameras. In fact, neither was this one. Both sequences were filmed using a new accessory for the popular GoPro camera. It’s called the DJI Phantom, and it’s described as an “aerial drone helicopter” for your GoPro. The videos captured using this expensive toy are breathtaking — I found myself having to move my head from one side of my monitor to the other to ensure I didn’t miss anything.
