The U.S. State Department today issued a
warning to Americans traveling to the northern
border regions of Mexico to be alert. Specifically the warning talks about violent criminal activity being on the
rise because of a power vacuum resulting from the arrests of local drug lords and the subsequent targeting of drug
organization members and local justice officials. Foreigners have apparently been targeted as well.
In some cases, the bulletin outlines, attackers are disguising themselves as Mexican police officials.
