Just a few weeks ago we went up to the lovely Adirondacks for a long weekend of camping, and I will tell you it was splendid. A lovely place and easily accessible from New York City and other parts of the Northeast. Having spent a fair amount of time in the Catskills as well, I hasten to say that the Adirondacks are superior.
Sorry about that. More trees, lovely lakes and ample hiking. The hiking has lots of appeal, and so I was doing some searching around for others who might know better that I about the hiking, meandering opportunities in the Adirondacks and, lo, I found the site of the Adirondack Mountain Club. So I gave it a once over and found it chock full of exactly the kind of info I was looking for. Trail info, reviews, information on educational programs, news, you name it. So if you are a Northeasterner and haven’t given the Adirondacks a thought yet, do so, and take a look at the finely wrought ADK site.
