Dirtiest Hotels in the USA

Every year TripAdvisor releases a list of the best hotels around the world based upon reader reviews. Such lists are hardly out of the ordinary; most travel sites and magazines routinely issue these types of reviews.

What is unique about TripAdvisor, however, is that they also rate the “Ten Dirtiest Hotels in the U.S.”

Now that’s cool!

Heading the list this year is the Tropicana Resort Hotel in Virginia Beach, Virginia. If you click here you can read various comments from former guests who will undoubtedly never return to what is now hailed as America’s dirtiest hotel. As you can see by the following quote, most of these reviews are an engaging mix of hilarity and disgust:

The first thing I noticed on check-in was the charming urine aroma of the first floor hallway. Luckily, we stayed on the 5th floor where there was a slightly less repulsive mildew-like stench. The cornucopia of odors didn’t stop there… our room smelled like a mixture of yeast and male cat urine.

Nine other hotels also make the dubious list with the state of Florida claiming a repulsive four spots in the top ten–all of which can be found in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area. Ugh!
