Photo of the Day (4/8/2007)

Some of my favorite photos of the Western landscape are those with the long black road stretching off into a indeterminate distance. Those pictures evoke for me the true essence of the West: boundlessness, freedom, um, and the need to drive to get anywhere.

has almost nothing to do with what I just wrote, other than the fact that it kind of reminds me of some of those classic photos. And it also reminds me a bit of my childhood at the beach. I pulled this photo not from the gadling Flickr site, but from the Flickr site of kapa_o_pango, who chose not to caption the picture. No problem, he seems to be Italian, so we probably wouldn’t understood him anyway.
