The weather here in Seward has been so terrible it’s a wonder I ever left the house. I should’ve churned out more than 100 posts with all the indoor-activity-inducing weather, but since we still don’t have all our daylight back I’ve been feeling a bit slushy and gray — a lot like our weather. And, I’m modeling myself after other famous freelance-writers. Thankfully, the rest of the Gadling group has been on it, and here’s what they brought you this week:
- Kelsey debuted her feature on her road trip from Calgary, Canada to South America. Find out how she planned for her trip and about that 1991 VW she’s driving down….
- This was a cool one — Jerry posted on how people count cash in different countries. I remember watching Laos citizens count cash and I could never figure out out they moved their fingers so quickly and were still able to keep track of their money.
- Jamie listed countries that are on the banned list for donating blood (meaning if you’ve spent a significant amount of time there, you aren’t allowed to donate). I knew that several central African countries were on thel list — but Europe? Guess I won’t be donating blood anytime soon; I lived in France in 1998 and Ireland in 2000; both over the cumulative 5-month limit.
- Anna wrote about the possibility that IKEA might be having a bit of a laugh at Denmark through the naming of their products. But they’ve got to name doormats after something, right?
- Finally, Grant warned us to start using those Northwest miles — they could be worth nothing very soon.
That’s all. I hope your weather is fabulous this weekend. As for me, I’m going to think snow.
