Photo of the Day (5.15.09)

Flickr user Dave and Chi took this beautiful photo of Mont Saint-Michel, a small island off the coast of Normandy in France. The island became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979, and according to Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson, it was the inspiration for the fictional city of Minas Tirith in the trilogy’s third movie.

Of course, if you don’t know what Minas Tirith is, ask a nerd.
