Daily deal – Kodak Zi6 HD camcorder for $99 (refurbished)

My daily deal for today is for a camera I reviewed last year – the Kodak Zi6 is a pocket handheld HD camcorder.

This camera can record video at 720p, and 60 frames per second, which equals “real HD”. The device has 128MB of built in memory, and an SD(HC) card slot, so you will have to invest a little more in a memory card if you plan to record more than a few minutes of content.

The camera runs off AA batteries, and a charger with 2 AA’s is included. To transfer the video off the Zi6, you simply flip the integrated USB connector out the side, and plug it into your PC. The included software allows for easy transfers to Youtube.

The Kodak Zi6 normally retails for $179, but if you live with a refurbished model, you can pick one up for just $99. Shipping is a pretty outrageous $10.

If you don’t want the gamble of a refurbished version, you can pick up a new Zi6 at Amazon for $151, which comes with free shipping.

Daily deal – 99 perfectly relaxing songs for under a buck

I’ll admit it – my daily deal for today is a bit of an oddball, but since we all travel, and probably could do with a bit of relaxation every now and then, I’m convinced some of you could benefit from this collection.

The album contains 99 “perfectly relaxing songs“, each song normally sells for 99 cents, but for a limited time, you can download all 99 songs, for just 99 cents!

The music is downloaded in DRM-free MP3, which means you can load it on pretty much any media player, including the iPod and iPhone.

To make loading the music onto your player easier, download the Amazon MP3 music application before you purchase the songs, that way you’ll be able to automatically import them into iTunes or Windows Media Player.

Daily deal – Refurbished TomTom One Third edition GPS unit for $79.99

I’ve posted this TomTom unit in the past, but this is the first time it has dropped under $80.

The TomTom ONE “Third edition” offers all the basic functions you’d expect from a car navigation unit, including spoken turn by turn directions, and the ability to download TomTom map corrections using your computer.

The device comes with a windshield mount, power cord, USB cable and adhesive mounting disc. As the title says – this is a refurbished unit, which means it was once returned to TomTom for any number of reasons, and was returned to its “as new” condition. These units often come with the newest map version, but in the event your maps are out of date, the manufacturer will often provide updates at no additional cost.

This TomTom usually retails for over $100, but since it has been refurbished, you can pick one up today from Amazon for just $79.99 with free shipping.

Warranty on the unit is 6 months, so you are fairly well protected against any issues. If you’d rather spend a little bit more for a brand new unit, check out this list of all sub-$100 GPS units at Amazon.

Daily deal – Toshiba 320GB external USB hard drive for $74.99

My daily deal for this afternoon is for (yet another) Toshiba portable external hard drive. Two weeks ago, I posted a good deal on a 250GB drive, but as prices continue to drop, you can now pick up a 320GB portable drive for just $10 more.

Besides being a really good deal, there are several other reasons why I think everyone who travels with their computer should invest in a portable drive.

For starters – the 320GB storage space should be enough to hold multiple backups of most of your important files. In addition to this, it can also make a safe place to store photos and videos you make on your trip, I know several people who made over 1000 photos, and lost every single one of them when their laptop hard drive crashed before arriving back home.

The best part about these portable drives is that they can be powered off the USB port of your laptop or desktop computer, which means you don’t have to drag an additional power supply along with you.

Another great thing a large external drive can do, is add more storage space for music or video files – especially since many small laptop computers only come with limited space. You’ll find this Toshiba 320GB portable hard drive on sale at Amazon for $74.99, which includes free shipping.

Daily deal – T-Mobile Cameo wireless digital photo frame for $39.99

My daily deal for today is pretty far from the average travel technology deal, but since almost every traveler carries a camera phone, I’ll explain why I think it is still a great deal for you.

The T-Mobile Cameo digital photo frame launched last year, at $99 and a monthly service charge of $9.99, it was one of those gadgets that I would have wanted to purchase, but just could not get over the $10 fee every month.

Yesterday, T-Mobile dropped the price on the Cameo to $39.99 for the frame, and just $1.99 a month for the service.

So, what can you do with this photo frame? You can sent photos to it from anywhere in the world! The frame operates on the nationwide T-Mobile network, and constantly waits for new incoming photos.

You can send photos using MMS (picture messaging) or through email. Each frame comes with its own mobile number, and sending a photo to it is as simple as attaching the photo in an email, and sending it to the dedicated email address assigned to the frame.

This is of course absolutely perfect if you are traveling the world and want to send daily photos to a loved one back home, or if you have a family member who can’t seem to operate anything more complicated than a coffee maker.
The device does not require any user interaction to receive the photos, they just show up when you send them. Thankfully there are some settings that allow you to restrict who can email the device, so there is no need to be worried about the family prankster sending porn to the frame.

In addition to the wireless portion of the frame, you can still add photos by connecting it to your computer, or by adding an SD memory card. The frame has a display resolution of 720×480 and has a built in light sensor for adjusting the brightness.

The Cameo frame can only be purchased at a local T-Mobile retail store (corporate owned), and since the $1.99 fee is actually for a new line, you will have to pass the T-Mobile credit check.

The good news is that the Cameo service does not require an activation fee or a contract, so you are free to cancel it after just 60 days. I’ve been playing with mine for a few hours, and it really is a fun way to send and view photos.

You can make the deal even better if you purchase the Cameo along with the new T-Mobile Samsung Memoir camera phone – when purchased on the same receipt, you are eligible for a $40 mail in rebate.
