Daily deal – Plantronics Discovery 925 Bluetooth headset for $50

by Scott Carmichael on

With just 5 shipping days left before Christmas, now is the time to slowly start thinking about making those last minute purchases. My daily deal for today is for the Plantronics Discovery 925 Bluetooth headset.

This headset is one of just a few out there that actually looks very stylish. The headset comes in a small leather case, which even contains a battery pack for charging the headset when you are not using it.

You can pick up the Discovery 925 in gold, purple and black. Of course, the most “normal” color (black) costs $5 more than the other 2. This headset usually retails for about $90, but Amazon currently has it on sale for just $49.99 ($54.99 for the black one).

Included in the package is the headset with its leather charging case, a MicroUSB charging cable and an AC adapter. You’ll also find 2 replacement earpieces. Be sure to check the shipping schedule, and to order with the correct shipping method if you need it on time for Christmas!

Daily deal – Slacker 4GB Wi-Fi Internet Radio for $79.99

by Scott Carmichael on

My daily deal for today is for the Slacker 4GB Wi-Fi Internet Radio. I’ve reviewed Slacker here before, and their portable player was selected as one of the best travel products of 2008.

The player on sale today is their previous generation unit, and while it may look nothing like the version I reviewed, it does offer the same functionality and of course, it uses the fantastic Slacker.com online music service.

This player normally retails for about $150, but buy.com has it on sale today for just $79.99 with free shipping.

Included with the player is a charger, USB cable and a pair of headphones. The basic Slacker music service is free to use, but for the best experience, you’ll want to upgrade to Slacker Premium.

If you are ordering this as a Christmas gift, then I suggest upgrading to 2-day shipping, you’ll find the buy.com Holiday shipping schedule here.

Daily deal – TomTom ONE 125 GPS unit for $89.99

by Scott Carmichael on

By now I’m sure many of you are fed up seeing another GPS unit as my daily deal. I told myself I would not be posting any more, but then TomTom decided to drop the price on their popular ONE 125 unit by another $10.

$89.99 for a new (as in not refurbished) A-brand GPS unit is almost unheard of, so if you really need one more last minute gift for a loved one who hates maps, then this is your chance.

The TomTom ONE 125 features the ingenious EasyPort folding windscreen mount, making this unit perfect for carrying in your luggage as you won’t have to bother with a bulky suction cup mount.

The ONE 125 has built in maps of the entire USA, and millions of points-of-interest.

Included in the package is a car charger, USB cable and a user guide. Amazon ships most TomTom GPS units with the newest available map version, but you can always download the latest map update directly through the TomTom home PC program.

Make sure you read the shipping schedule if you need this to arrive on time for Christmas, today is the last day you can order on Amazon if you plan to use their free saver shipping option.

Daily deal – Canon SD1100IS digital camera + photo printer for $169.95 (in pink)

by Scott Carmichael on

My daily deal for today is another of those colored gadgets that is cheaper when ordered in a less popular color.

The Canon SD1100IS is a pretty popular and highly rated digital camera. The SD1100IS shoots in 8 megapixels, and features optical image stabilization and a 3x zoom lens.

The camera usually retails for about $159, but if you have a special someone in your life who likes pink, then you can pick up one of these cameras along with a Canon photo printer for just $169.95.

As part of the Amazon Christmas promotions, you also get a code for a free photo calendar and a $5 credit for the Amazon mp3 store. As always with digital cameras, you only get a very small memory card with the package, so be sure to order a larger card, or you will be out of space after just a few snaps.

When you arrive on the product page, be sure to select the pink camera+printer from the dropdown menu. Free super saver shipping is included, but I highly recommend upgrading this to a better shipping method if you need it on time for Christmas!

Daily deal – massive SwissGear clearance – great luggage deals

by Scott Carmichael on

In my daily deal for today, you’ll find not one, but 24 different bags on clearance.

The lineup includes some of the most popular SwissGear backpacks, rolling cases and messenger bags.

The discounts vary from 60% off, to a whopping 73% off. Some of the highlights of the clearance include this rolling computer briefcase, from $299, for $99 or this red computer backpack for $29.99 (was $100).

All items are over $25, so you can pick free super saver shipping, but if you need it on time for Christmas, I highly recommend upgrading to a paid shipping option.

The bags are a great way to get your hands on a quality piece of luggage, without spending too much. I have several SwissGear bags and they have never let me down.
