Daily deal – Kingston 16GB DataTraveler USB drive for $19.99

by Scott Carmichael on

Like most memory products, USB flash drives have dropped in price at an insane rate this year. My daily deal for today is no different. 16GB of USB storage for a mere $20 is about 5 times cheaper than it was a year ago. The only thing dropping at this speed is the price of gas.

Drives like this are perfect for carrying all kinds of files, including scans of important documents, or for installing portable versions of applications you usually use at home.

Of course, with 16GB of storage, you can also use it as a backup drive for storing photos when you are on a trip. No matter what you plan to do with it, $20 is a good price, and if you order quickly, you should even get it on time for Christmas. The drive is on sale at Newegg.com, and includes free shipping.

Daily deal – Panasonic Lumix FS3 digital camera for $99.95

by Scott Carmichael on

My daily deal for today may be a little out of the realm of the “stocking stuff” budget, but it is still a fantastic deal.

The Panasonic Lumix FS3 is an 8 Megapixel camera, with a 3x optical zoom. The lens is made by Leica and features optical image stabilization.

The FS3 has 50MB of internal memory, and can be expanded by adding SD memory cards, which you will have to purchase separately. The FS3 also supports the new larger SDHC cards, allowing you to add cards larger than 2GB.

Inside the camera, you’ll find scene settings for anything from beach shots to snow scenery. The unit runs off a lithium-ion rechargeable battery pack, which is rated for 330 photos per full charge.

The camera comes with a USB cable, video cable, battery charger and of course the unit itself with a battery pack.

The Panasonic Lumix FS3 usually retails for about $170, but if you can settle for a pleasant shade of green, you’ll be able to order one for just $99.95, with free shipping from Amazon.

Daily deal – Panasonic iPod Bluetooth wireless headphones for $25

by Scott Carmichael on

My daily deal for today is great if you hate wires.

The Panasonic RP-BT10 iPod Bluetooth headphones allow you to listen to music on your iPod using the included wireless transmitter and Bluetooth headphones/remote.

Cutting the wires from your iPod is actually smarter than you think; it allows you to store your iPod out of sight, and without showing off your player, you might reduce the risk of someone attempting to steal it.

The RP-BT10 package includes the iPod Bluetooth transmitter, a Bluetooth receiver/remote, Panasonic in-ear headphones and a USB/AC charger.

The Bluetooth transmitter works on all dock-connector iPod models, but not on the iPod Touch or the iPhone. The music is transmitted using Stereo Bluetooth, so it will sound as close to the original audio as possible.

The Bluetooth receiver has a regular headphone jack, so if you already have better headphones, you can simply plug those into it.

This package usually retails for about $120, but you can pick up a set through buy.com for just $24.99, with free shipping included.

Daily deal – Kodak Zi6 HD video camcorder for $162

by Scott Carmichael on

Back in September I posted my review of the Kodak Zi6. This handheld HD video camera left me fairly impressed.

Back then, the camera cost $179, that price has now dropped to just $162. This low price makes it one of the cheapest A-brand HD camcorders on the market.

Of course, the video quality of these digital cameras is nowhere near what you’ll get from a $500 Canon or Sony HD camcorder, but it is perfectly usable for vacation clips.

As I mentioned in my review, you will need to pick up an SD memory card to expand the limited memory of the player, but with 4GB SD cards popping up for as little as $10, that is going to break the bank.

Some of the highlights of the Zi6 include its ability to run off regular AA batteries, a built in USB connector and an included HD (component) video cable for showing your clips on TV. $162 will get you the black version of the Zi6, and for $4 more, you can pick up a bright pink version.

Daily deal – Creative Zen 2GB MP3/video player for $48.99

by Scott Carmichael on

My daily deal for today is a perfect stocking stuffer. The Creative Zen media player features music and video playback on a 2.5″ color screen.

The device also has a built in FM radio with 32 presets, a voice recorder, a clock/alarm and it can even synchronize your contacts and appointments from Microsoft Outlook!

The player usually retails for around $70, but if you don’t mind receiving a refurbished unit, then you can pick on up directly from Creative for just $48.99.

A 4GB and 8GB version are also on the site, but are currently out of stock. One other piece of fine print; the 2GB is only available in pink!

The device comes with a USB cable and a pair of headphones. The warranty on refurbished products from Creative is 90 days. If you don’t want pink, or you’d prefer a brand new (non-refurbished) player, then head on over to Amazon, where you’ll find the player for $69.99. Shipping at Creative.com on orders under $75 is about $9.
