Daily deal – Blackberry Bold for $0 with 2yr AT&T agreement

by Scott Carmichael on

My daily deal for today is for the Blackberry Bold smartphone. This brand new Blackberry was released on AT&T just several days ago, and is already available for free thanks to an offer from Walmart!

The Blackberry Bold is the newest generation Blackberry, and offers 3G speeds, Wi-Fi, GPS, a 2 megapixel camera and a high resolution display.

The Blackberry Bold still costs $299 (after a $100 rebate) if you buy it directly from AT&T, but if you purchase it through this link, you’ll get it for $199 with a $199 rebate, making your final price $0.

As always, there is a catch to a deal like this. In order to get this price, you will have to sign up for a new 2 year AT&T wireless agreement at $80/month, and the site seems to force you to add a $20 unlimited messaging plan in addition to the Blackberry data plan.

I’m sure we’ll see slightly better deals pop in in the weeks to come, but if you absolutely must have the latest and greatest Blackberry, and don’t mind paying an arm and a leg every month, then this is the the way to do it.

Daily deal – HP iPaq 111 Classic PDA for $189.99

by Scott Carmichael on

My daily deal for today is a rarity – it’s a good old PDA. I’m calling it rare, because it’s actually quite hard nowadays to find a personal organizer that is not a phone, GPS unit and camera at the same time.

From my personal experience, I know a lot of people just want something small and easy to use, that does not involve signing up for a 2 year contract or subscribing to an expensive data plan.

The HP iPaq 111 Classic runs Windows Mobile, which means it comes delivered with an email client and pocket versions of Internet Explorer, Word and even Excel.

Inside the device you’ll find Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, which means you’ll be able to get online at the airport or your hotel when you are in range of a hotspot.

This Classic PDA normally retails for over $300, but Amazon.com currently has it on sale for just $189.99. And while this may be more than many smartphones (the iPhone is just $10 more), it does not involve any monthly fees or contracts.

The iPaq can be expanded using cheap SD cards, and with a 4GB card currently costing under $15, you’ll even be able to turn the device into a music and video playing machine thanks to the built in Windows Media Player.

All in all, the iPaq 111 Classic is true to its name; a rock solid little PDA without trying to be too many things at once.

Daily deal – Acer Aspire One ultra portable computer $289.99

by Scott Carmichael on

My daily deal for today is for another of those nifty little “Netbook” computers. This time, it’s the Acer Aspire One AOA110-1955.

The pint sized computer features an Intel Atom processor, running at a comfortable 1.6GHz. Also inside the machine is 512MB of memory and an 8GB solid state drive. Connectivity to the Internet is accomplished using a wired connection, or with the built in Wi-Fi interface.

Before you click “I want one”, I want to make sure you understand that this model of the Aspire One does not come with Windows. Instead, you get a special flavor of Linux. The Linux installation contains all the applications the average user might need; including OpenOffice and Mozilla Firefox.

The Acer Aspire One comes complete with a 3-cell battery pack, an AC adapter and a carrying pouch.

This machine normally retails for $329, but for just one day, you’ll be able to buy one from Woot.com for just $289.99 (+$5 shipping).

Remember, Woot.com deals are only available for one day, or until they run out of stock, so don’t wait too long.

Daily deal – Creative Labs Vado pocket video camera for $80 + free case

by Scott Carmichael on

My daily deal for today is for the Creative Labs Vado pocket video camcorder.

This small digital video camera records up to 2 hours of content and features a digital 2x zoom, an internal rechargeable battery and a built in USB connector.

Recordings can instantly be sent to Youtube or other video sharing sites, or stored on your PC.

Cameras like this have become increasingly popular thanks to their low cost and durability. I’ve used several of them myself, and often prefer them over a regular digital camera because they are much easier to carry around.

Of course, the video quality is not comparable to a high-end digital video camera, but the content is perfectly acceptable for shots of your vacation or other event.

The Creative Labs Vado normally retails for $99.99, but until November 1st you’ll be able to pick one up from Amazon.com for just $79.99. To make the deal even sweeter, Amazon even throws in a free carrying case (worth $15). Just be sure to add both items to your cart on the purchase page. The Creative Labs Vado is available in silver and pink, and both cameras have a matching colored case available.
