Daily deal – Navigon 2100 GPS unit with text to speech for $79.99

by Scott Carmichael on

It has been a while since I last posted a GPS unit as my daily deal, but the wait was worth it as my deal today is for the very highly rated Navigon 2100.

This car GPS unit has a 3.5″ display and features “Reality View”. Reality View is a Navigon invention that shows the actual lanes and simulated street signs on highway junctions. It works surprisingly well, and takes the guessing game out of trying to find the right exit.

The Navigon 2100 also features text to speech with spoken street names. The unit comes with a car charger cord and a high quality windshield mount.

It is currently on sale at CompUSA for just $79.99 but the catch is that you’ll be receiving a refurbished unit. If you want to make the unit even better, you can pick up a half-price lifetime traffic activation card at Amazon.com. This card contains a code which can be used to activate the integrated traffic information receiver in the Navigon 2100. Cities that are covered in the Navigon traffic service can be found here.

Daily deal – Kingston 2GB SD card shipped for $4!

by Scott Carmichael on

My deal deal for today is for the Kingston 2GB SD memory card. This card has finally reached a silly price point; just $3.99 including shipping.

When you realize that the first 1GB card launched in 2004 for $499, you’ll see just how fast prices have dropped on memory in recent years.

This card is perfect for your digital camera and certain mobile phones, but it is not the fastest kind of SD card, so I would not recommend it for professional use or semi-professional cameras.

The SD card is on sale at Newegg.com, who are considered to be one of the most reliable computer parts vendors in the country. Shipping is free, except to customers in Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Because of the nature of this deal, Newegg limits you to 2 cards per customer.

Daily deal – Plantronics Bluetooth headset for $10

by Scott Carmichael on

My daily deal for today is for the Plantronics 222 Bluetooth headset.

This Bluetooth headset is about as simple as they get; you won’t find any snazzy features on it, but at $10 it is perfect for carrying around in your bag. It is alsoa must-have if you absolutely positively must make a phone call in places like California or Chicago, where the use of a handsfree device is the only way you can make calls from your vehicle.

The headset is being sold by Woot!, so by now you should know the drill; order as soon as you can, because when they are sold out, the deal is over.

The headset ships with a charger, and you’ll be charged $5 for the Woot! Smartpost shipping method, which means it could take about 2 weeks to actually get your headset.

Daily deal – big headphone clearance at Amazon.com

by Scott Carmichael on

Welcome to the Gadling daily deal for Saturday. In this deal, you’ll find an assortment of noise isolating and noise canceling headphones in the Amazon headphone clearance sale.

There are some real gems to be found, including these JVC noise canceling headphones, on sale for $37.97 (were $99.95).

Almost all the headphones have a pretty decent rating of 4 stars. As always with Amazon, orders of $25 or more will ship for free and members with an Amazon Prime account can get them shipped with 2-day for free.

Personally I’m an in-ear noise isolating headphone fan, as you saw with my recent review of the Etymotic Research hf2 headphones. But as I said; there is something for everyone in the clearance aisle.

Daily deal – 4GB MicroSD card for $5.99

by Scott Carmichael on

Got a Blackberry or other smartphone? Then my deal of the day for today might be just what you need.

This Dane-Elec 4GB MicroSD card fits many of the most popular phones on the market at the moment (but not the iPhone).

By adding 4GB, you’ll be able to fit 1000’s of songs or photos on your device. The card comes with a 10 year (!!!) warranty, a MicroSD to SD card adapter and a carrying case. Shipping is just $5, but you can order up to 3 of them for a single shipping charge.

A quick word of warning; this 4GB card is an SDHC format card; so please check your user guide before placing an order, as some older devices may not have support built in for SDHC.

Like with most deals from Woot!, the sale only lasts as long as inventory is available, so if you are thinking of placing an order, don’t wait too long!
