Daily Deal – Flip Ultra 60 minute digital camcorder (pink) for $124

by Scott Carmichael on

My daily deal for today is for the Flip Ultra 60 minute digital camcorder. This pocket video camera has an internal memory card, with enough storage for 60 minutes of your antics. The camera features a nifty pop-out USB connector, so you do not need to carry any cables.

The camera starts up in about 3 seconds, and is instantly ready to record. Thanks to its AA batteries, you do not have to worry about expensive camcorder rechargeable batteries, plus you’ll be able to pick up new batteries almost anywhere.

The camera comes complete with a set of new batteries, a TV video cable, a carrying pouch and a wrist strap.

The retail price for the Flip Ultra is $149.99, but you can pick one up the pink version through Amazon for just $124. If pink isn’t “your thing”, you’ll still be able to pick up a more masculine color, but you will end up paying a few dollars more.

The quality of the video off the Flip camera is surprisingly decent, it won’t win you an Oscar, but it is a great affordable way to capture your memories on a vacation. The camera software also makes it easy to instantly upload your recordings to popular video sharing sites like Youtube and if you are not very computer savvy, you can even bring the camera to a local Flip retailer and have the recordings stored on a DVD.

Daily deal – “Otto” active noise canceling headphones

by Scott Carmichael on

My daily deal for today is perfect for anyone looking for a pair of noise canceling headphones. The “Otto” headphones on sale at sellout.woot.com may not be an A name brand (or even a B or C name brand for that matter), but the price can’t be beat: $9.99 and $5 for shipping.

The headphones run off a regular AAA battery for up to 60 hours, and reduce ambient noise by about -13dB. Included with the headphones is an airplane adapter (for those rare aircraft that still use a 2 prong plug), and a carrying pouch.

The headphones come with a 1 year warranty, and you can purchase them through the Woot! sellout store at shopping.yahoo.com. Simply click on the Yahoo! shopping link, then in the middle of the page you’ll find the Woot! Sellout ad for today.

As with all Woot! deals, the headphones could sell out at any moment, and at the end of the day, the deal is gone.

Daily deal – FREE AVS Video Editing software

by Scott Carmichael on

Today’s daily deal is for the AVS Video Editor. This video editing package was developed so anyone can collect, edit and produce stunning video clips.

The software supports importing video files in various formats, including content recorded on your digital camera, camcorder, analogue video camera, and even off your PC webcam.

The editing package comes complete with 300 video effects and transitions, including chroma-key (green-screen) and picture in picture. When you are done editing your video, you can even add titles, credits or a soundtrack.

Completed shows can be recorded onto a DVD or converted for viewing on an iPod or other portable media player.

This video editing suite normally retails for $89, but for just one day (Saturday September 13th), you can download and install the application for free. The only catch is that you must install and activate it today.

You’ll find the AVS Video Editor at Giveawayoftheday.com. I took the program for a quick spin, and it really does seem very complete, and most certainly more feature-rich than the video editor included with Windows. So, if you are looking out the window at a dull and rainy day, why not gather up some of those old family video’s and create your very own blockbuster!

Daily deal – SeV “Scott Jordan Signature System” jacket and fleece

by Scott Carmichael on

My daily deal for today is for the newest product from SeV. The Scott Jordan Signature System is a combination of the new Quantum jacket and the popular SeV fleece. With the temperatures slowly dropping, now is (sadly) the time to start looking for a new jacket for the winter months.

The new Quantum jacket is the “cream of the crop” in the SeV lineup, offering an astounding 28 pockets and compartments. The jacket features a removable hood, and a built in waist-cinch tightens around your waist to keep snow and slush from shooting up your tummy if you are into snow sports. The jacket also has the patented SeV cord management system and a clear pouch for storing your iPod, while still allowing full access to the controls. The jacket has a waterproof, windproof and breathable membrane layer, which is designed to keep you warm and comfortable.

The second part of the signature edition is the SeV fleece 5.0. This fleece doubles as a warm vest thanks to its removable sleeves. Incorporated in the vest are 24 pockets, including several “deep pockets” for large items. This brings the total number of pockets to 52 when you add the jacket. Just like the jacket, the fleece also has the cord management system as well as 2 handwarmer pockets, a secure travel document pocket and they have even built a removable sunglass cleaning cloth right into one of the pockets.

These garments normally sell for $250 (for the jacket) and $140 (for the fleece), which is in line with the price of most other high end winter gear, but if you purchase them on the SeV pre-order page, you’ll only pay $270 for the two, which is a $120 discount.

The Scott Jordan Signature System is expected to ship to you from the SeV warehouse on October 10th, and shipping is just $5. The items are available from XS to XXXL. You can learn more about the new Scott Jordan Signature System here.

Daily deal – Creative Zen 8GB portable media player for $99

by Scott Carmichael on

In honor of the Apple event being held today, I’ve picked a daily deal that is not an iPod. The Creative Zen 8GB portable media player is a pretty sleek little device with a very impressive lineup of media features. It has been covered in the past by fellow Gadling blogger Tynan.

Naturally, it plays music in MP3 and WMA format, as well as music downloaded from subscription services. The player also supports video, in one of the widest range of formats available; MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, DivX, XviD, MJPEG and WMV9. If none of those abbreviations mean much, don’t worry; it essentially means that the player will display almost any kind of video file you throw at it including protected files from video rental services like Amazon Unbox.

The Zen 8GB also displays your photos, it has an FM radio, a clock/alarm function, an organizer with Microsoft Outlook synchronization and you can use it as a portable 8GB hard drive for storing your important files.

At $99 it is one of the cheapest multipurpose media players on the market, and the price at Amazon.com is about $30 cheaper than most other vendors. Amazon will even ship it for free.

Included in the package is the player, a USB cable, headphones and an installation CD. The 8GB of internal storage is enough for about 2000 songs, but you can expand this with a cheap SD card.
