Despite What You May Have Thought Previously, The TravelSafe Does Not Suck

I learned about PacSafe’s TravelSafe a few weeks ago. Thinking it looked like a glorified fanny pack, I moved on. Yesterday, however, the folks at Backpackers reviewed the TravelSafe, and they concluded it was both “pretty simple” and “very handy.” I think I may have been wrong.

Featuring a slashproof skin and a high-tensile stainless steel cable with a padlock that cinches tight, the TravelSafe can be locked to pretty much anything.

Capable of holding two medium-sized travel books, a passport, a plane ticket, an entire travel wallet with money and documents, an iPod, a cellphone and a digital camera, the rugged little bag still had room to spare.

Frankly, I’m pretty impressed with the TravelSafe, and now I’m seriously considering getting my own $40 pouch. For the curious, PacSafe makes a number of secure travel items, from a laptop case to a day bag.

Stolen Luggage Found in Houston Trash Bin

Um, this bothers me. A LOT. According to this story found in the Seattle Times, 68 suitcases which were taken from George Bush International Airport were found outside of a pet store dumpster in Houston earlier this week. The stolen baggage apparently came from nine different airlines and from destinations such as France, UAE, and domestic locations. Investigators are trying to determine now if it was an inside job or if some punks walked into baggage claim and casually walked off with bags without anyone noticing. Imagine waiting for your bag to come around the carousel when somebody has already successfully snagged your panties, boxers, toothpaste, Craisins, jewelry and other novelty items for their own personal pleasure. Ugh!

News like this really stinks to hear considering how much paper is wasted printing your baggage claim tickets and no one is ever there to check. I think I’ve been checked only once in all my travels before walking off with my bags. That’s pretty sad folks. If you’re heading through Houston it might be time to start making a mad dash to the claim area or just check-in nothing and buy when you arrive.

OGIO Terminal Bag

Not long ago in the past I was one of the nastiest impulse buyers to walk the planet Earth. (Nasty as in overdoing it and buying way beyond my means. Not belching and burping while shopping.) I waited for nothing. Did research on nada product , but these days I’m a changed woman. In fact, I’m such the opposite that I sit too long trying to make a decision about something I know I’ll want. Take the OGIO Terminal bag for example. I’ve been eying this baby for a good long while. Since my last bag disappeared out of my life last year I’ve been silently weeping inside to hold, have and lug around another OGIO bag. Ah…

I placed my order last Sunday and now I’m hoping like all hell that the bag makes it here in time for my trip. I could have tossed out the extra dinero for some speedy shipping method, but I can wait. I’ve got my back-up bags ready in case this doesn’t show up in time. Upon arrival and after I’ve made good use of my new luggage I’ll report back with a review. However, it’s gotten some pretty good comments elsewhere and from my research you can get one of your own for $144.95 at Remember Delaware. They seem to have the best price and full selection.
