America’s best cities for women

What is America’s best city for a woman to live? My question is, does it differ from the best city for a man to live? Apparently, it does. Which could be the source of a lot of our problems, I am guessing.

Self Magazine ranked Burlington, VT is the best and healthiest city for a woman to live.

Here are the Top 3 best cities:

  1. Burlington, Vt: “It’s beautiful. Burlington overlooks Lake Champlain, America’s sixth largest lake, and is bordered by the Green and Adirondack mountains. Exercise is easy and readily attainable. Burlington also has excellent health care with the highest number of ob/gyns per capita on the list. Other female-friendly benefits are Vermont’s requirements that Medicaid pay for some abortions and that private insurers cover birth control. There are many health clubs, higher than the average in Self’s survey, and many opportunities for winter sports.”
  2. Provo-Orem, Utah: “It has low smoking and drinking rates. Its high Mormon population translates to low deaths.”
  3. Stamford-Norwalk, Conn.: “It has a lot of health clubs, highest rate per capita of all cities, is No. 2 on list of healthiest eating, and has a low number of automobile deaths.”

The worst cities for women were Cincinnati, Ohio; Gary, Ind.; and St. Louis, Mo.
