Get Ready For The Olympics With Andaz’s World Food Marathon

While the Olympic Games are associated with international sports, Andaz Liverpool Street in London will be focusing on international food during the weeks leading up to the big event.

The five-star luxury hotel will be looking to staff members of its four Andaz restaurants – 1901, Catch, Eastway and Miyako – to help create the menu. Pulling from the 40 different nationalities that represent the Andaz Liverpool Street team, 26 unique cultural dishes were created. This number isn’t random, as it embodies the 26 miles in a marathon. The tasty festival will run from July 2 to July 27, the 26 days leading up to the Olympic Opening Ceremony.

Some of the dishes attendees can expect include Korean Spicy Pork, Polish Golabki, Slovakian sheep’s cheese dumplings, Colombian bandeja paisa and South African Bobotie.

“With all eyes on London this year as the 2012 Olympic season gathers momentum, Andaz Liverpool Street wanted to pay tribute to the multicultural base of the city with a variety of dishes from around the world, which celebrate different cultures, allowing our guests to take a journey of the culinary kind through what we have called the World Food Marathon,” says Arnaud de Saint Exupéry, the Andaz Liverpool Street General Manager.

Delta Flies Rangers Fans For Free On 17-minute Flight To Devils Game

Delta Air Lines is giving Rangers fans a free lift to game three of the National Hockey League’s Eastern Conference Finals on Saturday. The catch, however, is that the game is in northern New Jersey – meaning the free flight from LaGuardia Airport to Newark Liberty International Airport is far more trouble than it’s worth.

Any fan that does take Delta up on the offer must first take the time to go through airport security at LaGuardia to board a 10 a.m. charter flight. Once it takes off, the flight should only last somewhere around 17 minutes – but according to Delta it will be a short but sweet flight featuring prizes and Rangers legends Ron Duguay and Rod Gilbert. The trip includes free transportation from the airport to the Prudential Center for the game, and when it’s over fans will be brought back to LaGuardia on a returning flight.

The two airports are separated by just over 20 miles, a distance that (without traffic) should take about 38 minutes to drive. Fans also have the option of train travel, which is estimated to take about 20 minutes from Madison Square Garden to the Prudential Center.

If you seriously want to take Delta up on the offer – and we’re not really sure why you would – fill out a form on the Rangers website by 5 p.m. EST today to be entered in the promotion. Fans must already have tickets to the game and be able to present valid identification.

The Newest Innovation In Snorkeling: The Powerbreather

When traveling to tropical regions, I love snorkeling and seeing the unique marine life. However, one thing I hate is how I can never seem to perfectly place the snorkel tube as to not get water in my mouth. Luckily, a new product called the Powerbreather has been designed to fix this.

Tagged as the “future in swimming,” the Powerbreather is a ring shaped, elastic snorkel that wraps around the head. What’s unique about the design is that you actually breathe through a hole in the back of your head, fully exhaling through a check valve. The fresh air you’ll breath will leave you with more energy, and you won’t have to deal with ingesting tons of salt water.

Argentina’s National Pastime: Pato

While most people believe soccer to be Argentina‘s national pastime, I was surprised to learn from a local that it’s actually something with very unsavory beginnings. Pato, or duck, is a game that combines polo and basketball, and is the national sport of Argentina. To play, two teams of four on horseback fight for possession of a ball that is equipped with six leather handles. The object of the game is to fling the ball into a tall net, as the team with the most goals is the winner. So why is the game called duck? Because in the early days, gauchos used a live duck instead of a ball. Back then, the game was so intense that many players lost their lives not only by being trampled by the horses, but also by being stabbed in moments of passion.
