Despite the recent news from Dubai stating its property and building crisis, the city is alive and well, and visitors like our faithful photographer jrodmanjr continue to have inspiring shots to offer us — like this one. Only in the Middle East can you snap a sunset like this one. That round, glowing sun lowering on the horizon must have been a sight to behold.

The dawn of a new decade is just weeks away, and while the sun will set on the beginning ten years of this millennium, there are plenty of beautiful things to look forward to.

I wanted to find a good shot of clouds for today’s photo, and I think this one reflects my mood perfectly. Clouds, to me, are good metaphors for life, and these clouds represent for me the beauty of life, the end of the day, and the dawning of a new day. When traveling through life, it’s important to note moments when the clouds part and you can see things (your life, your surroundings, etc.) more clearly.

This gorgeous photo was taken by Patrick Powers in Orange County (which is another, more personal reason I chose it). The colors may be slightly over-enhanced, but the fiery effect of the photo is quite good, don’t you think?

Talk about a gorgeous sunset! I must have said this before, but I’ll say it again: I love Hawaii. I’m almost positive this photo’s been enhanced, but I have to say sunsets in Hawaii actually look like this all the time. Really.

I do love an iconic silhouette, and this one of the Statue of Liberty, shot and shared by othernel, is a classic. There’s no mistaking this landmark, is there? Really beautifully done.
