Video of the Day: Paper Osaka

People spend a lot of time complaining about airlines, and often that criticism is rightly deserved. It’s rare that you hear airlines getting praised for any sort of creativity. However, we have to tip our caps to Air Asia for their nifty little video announcing their newest destination, Osaka. It’s a clever animation that highlights some of Osaka’s quirks and isn’t just a boring commercial for a product or service.

We’ll still spend a lot of time nitpicking airlines and calling them our when they fail to meet expectations. But, for now, we’re just going to enjoy watching that paper girl journey to one of our favorite cities on the planet.

Video of the Day – A ride through Lisbon

Can you describe your favorite city in one word? Yellow Bus Tours, a tour guide company in Portugal, recently asked tourists of Lisbon to describe the Portuguese capital in one word.

Set to a montage of beautiful scenes shot in and around the city, the video sets a vibe that certainly makes the city look inviting. Kudos to Yellow Bus Tours for capturing the feel of the city & inviting their guests to help promote Lisbon tourism.

Video of the Day: Pan to the head

This video is baffling. It’s a group of Brits on a camping trip, yet it appears as if they have just set up camp in someone’s backyard (isn’t that a house behind the fence?). Why is that guy hitting the other guy in the head with a pan? What’s the deal with that second fence made of fabric? We might have more questions than answers, but summer is for camping trips and camping trips are for drunken hijinks*.

So, let’s not spend too much time figuring out what the hell is going on here and simply enjoy the fact that there’s more to life than videos of people at Renaissance fairs getting hit in the crotch.

* Please drink responsibly and away from cookware.

Video of the Day: Attack of the Blob

Blobs are awesome. They’re big inflatable masses that you can use to launch people dozens of feet into the air and back down into the water. And, according to this video, the Blob has taken its aquatic mayhem to France, where these people were using it in Cergy. As summer heats up and we all look for ways to cool off (at least in the Northern Hemisphere), you can’t go wrong with the Blob. Unless, of course, you land as awkwardly as the person in this video. I imagine they might have enjoyed cooling off with a cold beverage rather than face-planting into this lake.

Stay cool out there!

Video of the Day: Cruise ship belly flop contest

I’ve never been on cruise but we cover them pretty extensively here at Gadling. Everything I know about the cruise industry I’ve learned from Saturday Night Live. So, you can imagine my confusion when I saw this video posted online today. Apparently, Royal Caribbean ships have belly flop contests. And, apparently some people film them. From the massive crowd watching each flop as if it’s Game 7 of the World Series to the painful water landings to the ultra-perky MC, this video has everything that you need to either brighten your day or send you into a shame spiral after you realize that you scored every single belly flop as if you were an Olympic judge. We apologize for stealing ten minutes of your life.
