We kind of love finding YouTube videos without descriptions. It’s endlessly fun to try to piece together what the heck is happening. In the video above, it appears as if someone is playing the old Arkanoid video game on the massive LED screen in Seoul Square in South Korea’s capital. In fact, it looks like it might just be the world’s largest LED screen. Beyond that, your guess is as good as ours. What’s the high score? How many lives do you get? How close can you sit to the screen before your mom tells you that you’re going to go blind?
Video of the Day – Make your travel photos Hollywood-worthy
Vacation photos can sometimes be disappointing, or at very least, a little less ‘epic’ than how you remembered them. But as Youtube user postjhb shows us in today’s Video of the Day, all it takes to turn those summer vacation stills into moving masterpieces is a Photoshop tutorial and a little creative energy.
If you need some inspiration for this summer’s big getaway, hit play & check out postjhb’s technique. It boils down to 4 simple steps; taking two good photos (one with the subject & one without), extracting the subject from the background in Photoshop, and then using a video editor to cause the two layers to move against each other. The full process is outlined here.
If that’s a little too complicated, try some of Gadling’s easy Travel Photo Tips so that you’re all ready to shoot like a pro as this summer kicks off! If you already have a shot (or video) you’re proud of, submit it to Gadling’s Flickr Pool or leave a comment below & it could be our next Photo/Video of the Day!
Video of the Day: Driving in hail
Summer is a great time for road trips and spending time outdoors. Unfortunately, soaring temperatures and humidity also bring some pretty dramatic weather. In this video, people are caught driving around in golf ball-sized hail. Sadly, the person who posted the video failed to include the location in the description. From the sounds of the hail hitting the car, however, we can at least be certain that some damage was being done.
Enjoy your summer travels but always be sure to check the weather forecast before you leave the house. Sometimes a shield might be better than an umbrella!
Video of the Day – Cloud surfing over Australia
If you’ve taken a ride in a commercial airplane and longed to get even closer to the clouds, then microlight aviation may be the hobby you’ve been dreaming of. In this gorgeous Video of the Day, photographer Sascha Unger was able to capture some rare cloud formations nearly 10,000 feet above Western Australia’s well-reputed Ningaloo Reef.
With the help of a friend that runs a microlight flight school, Unger rode in the back of an Australian-made two person “trike” with an open cockpit and a wing that resembles a hang glider. Shooting with a Canon 5D Mark II, he was able to share what it feels like to cut through cloud formations and get a rare, crisp view of Australia’s largest fringing reef.
Have you flown an ultralight or microlight craft? Did you capture your view? We want to see it! Share it with us in the comments below, or our Flickr Pool and it could be the next Photo / Video of the Day.
Video of the Day: Zombie Walk in Columbus, Ohio
People like to argue over the best time to visit places. You’ll hear plenty of people recommend Paris in the spring, wax poetic on the Alaskan winter and suggest New England in autumn. For our money, however, it’s all about Columbus, Ohio during the zombie apocalypse. Columbus hosted it’s seemingly annual Zombie Walk this past weekend. It’s hard to tell what’s happening in this video, but it looks like faux military personnel are fighting against some zombies with pretty impressive makeup. Not exactly your typical tourist attraction but a pretty amusing activity nonetheless.
So, the next time someone asks you about the best time to visit central Ohio, let them know that mid-May is the time to go. Go for the temperate spring weather, stay for the end of mankind.
